The Style List is operated by Gains Insights LLC (“The Style List,” “we,” “us”), a New Jersey limited liability company, and is an AI styling assistant. This policy explains what we collect, why, and the control you have over it. We designed the product to process the minimum needed to style you well — your photos and wardrobe are yours.
Information we collect
We collect the following categories of information:
- Account information. Your name, email address, and authentication details when you create an account.
- Photos, camera & microphone input. Images of your outfits and clothing you capture or upload, and, during a Live Stylist session, live camera frames and microphone audio streamed in real time so the stylist can see your outfit and talk with you.
- Wardrobe data. The clothing items you catalog and any tags, categories, or notes you add.
- Usage data. Interactions with features (fit checks, generated outfits, stylist conversations) used to improve your experience.
- Device & diagnostic data. Device type, OS version, app version, and crash logs.
- Purchase data. Subscription status processed through Apple App Store or Google Play. We do not receive or store your full payment card details.
How we use your information
We use your information to:
- Provide AI styling feedback, fit scores, and generated outfits.
- Build and maintain your digital wardrobe.
- Power real-time Live Stylist voice and camera sessions.
- Operate, secure, and improve the app.
- Provide customer support and respond to your requests.
- Send service communications (we’ll get separate consent for marketing).
AI processing of photos
Styling features send your images to AI models for analysis. Live Stylist streams camera frames and microphone audio in real time to generate spoken feedback during a session. We send this content to the following AI providers, who process it under contract solely to provide our styling features and may not use it for their own purposes:
- OpenAI — outfit photos you capture, to score and analyze your look.
- Google — photos of you and your clothing for virtual try-on and generated outfit images, and the Live Stylist’s real-time camera and microphone processing.
- Anthropic — your stylist chat messages and any photos you share in chat.
We do not use your personal photos to train third-party foundation models, and we do not sell your images.
No facial recognition or biometrics. The Style List does not perform facial recognition and does not create, derive, or store biometric identifiers such as face templates, faceprints, or face geometry. Your photos may include your face because they are pictures of you wearing an outfit; the face is processed only as part of the image to generate styling feedback and try-on visuals, and is never used to identify or authenticate you.
Face data
Because The Style List works with photos of you wearing an outfit and, during a Live Stylist session, with live camera frames, a picture you submit may incidentally include your face. Apple asks every app that handles face data to explain exactly how that data is used, stored, and shared. This section answers those questions in full.
What face data we collect. We do not collect face data as a biometric identifier. The Style List does not perform facial recognition or face matching and does not create, derive, or store biometric identifiers such as face templates, faceprints, or face geometry. The only place a face appears is incidentally, within an ordinary photo or live camera frame you choose to submit for styling. This includes any reference photo you save (a full-body picture of yourself used so the app can show outfits on you in virtual try-on): it is an ordinary photo that may include your face, kept only to power that feature. We do not detect, measure, or analyze the face in any photo, including reference photos, as a biometric; we process the image as a whole to generate styling feedback and try-on visuals, and instruct our AI models to leave the face unchanged so the result still looks like you. We have no interest in face data, and use these images solely for app functionality.
Why we process the face within a photo. Solely to deliver the feature you requested, outfit scoring, virtual try-on, AI stylist chat, and real-time Live Stylist feedback. We do not use it for advertising, tracking, profiling, identity verification, or model training, and we do not sell it.
Whether face data is retained, and for how long. We do not retain any biometric face data, because we never create it. For the underlying photos: Live Stylist camera frames and microphone audio are streamed for real-time processing and are not stored by us after the session. A try-on or generated image, or a reference photo you save, is kept only in your own account while your account is active, and is deleted when you delete the item or your account (and no later than our 24-month inactive-account window). When you delete your account, your stored images are permanently erased within 30 days. Saved images live in your own namespace in Google Firebase / Google Cloud Storage in the United States (us-central1). We store these images only to provide the service; we do not store any face data longer than needed for that purpose.
Third parties we share photos (which may contain a face) with, and why. To generate styling results we send your images to the AI providers below, who act as our processors under contract and use the content solely to return the requested result. None of them use it to train their models, and we share only to deliver the feature:
- OpenAI — receives outfit photos to score and analyze your look. OpenAI does not use API data to train its models. OpenAI may temporarily store API inputs and outputs, including images, for up to 30 days solely to provide the service and to detect and prevent abuse, after which the data is deleted unless it is legally required to retain it. The 30-day limit is OpenAI’s standard abuse-monitoring window. See OpenAI’s enterprise privacy terms.
- Google — receives photos and Live Stylist real-time camera and microphone input for virtual try-on, generated outfit images, and spoken feedback. We use Google’s paid Gemini API tier, under which Google does not use your content (including images and video) to train or improve its products or models. Google may retain inputs and outputs for up to 55 days solely to detect and prevent abuse and maintain the security of the service, after which the data expires. For real-time Live Stylist sessions, conversation state is processed transiently and is not stored for resumption. The retention limits exist only for abuse prevention and service security. See the Gemini API terms.
- Anthropic — receives your stylist chat messages and any photos you share in chat. Anthropic does not use API data to train its models. Under its published policy, Anthropic automatically deletes API inputs and outputs within 30 days; if content is flagged by its trust-and-safety systems as violating its Usage Policy, it may retain inputs and outputs for up to 2 years, and related safety classification scores for up to 7 years, solely to enforce that policy and comply with legal obligations. See Anthropic’s data-retention policy.
In short: we create and retain no biometric face data; the photos that may contain a face are processed and stored only to deliver the features you ask for, for the limited periods described above, and are shared only with the processors above under terms that forbid training and limit retention to service and abuse-prevention purposes.
Sharing & disclosure
We share information only in these limited cases:
- Service providers — hosting and infrastructure (Google Firebase / Google Cloud), AI processing (OpenAI, Google, and Anthropic, as described above), analytics, and crash reporting, under data-protection terms.
- App stores — Apple and Google for purchases and subscription management.
- Legal requirements — where required by law or to protect rights, safety, and security.
- Business transfers — in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, with notice to you.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising.
International transfers. We are based in the United States, and our providers may process your data in the United States and other countries. Where required, we rely on appropriate safeguards for international transfers.
Data retention
We keep your information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the service. You can delete individual wardrobe items and photos at any time. When you delete your account, we permanently delete or de-identify your personal data, including your stored photos, within 30 days, except where retention is required by law.
Inactive accounts. If an account has been inactive for 24 months, we may delete or de-identify it and its associated data. Where we have a valid email address on file, we aim to give notice before doing so.
Live Stylist camera frames and microphone audio are streamed for real-time processing and are not stored by us after the session. If you ask the stylist to generate a try-on during a session, the single image used is saved to your account so you can view it later, and is deleted when you delete the item or your account.
Your rights & choices
Depending on where you live (including under GDPR and CCPA), you may have the right to:
- Access, correct, or delete your personal information.
- Export a copy of your data.
- Object to or restrict certain processing.
- Withdraw consent where processing is based on consent.
To exercise any of these, contact us at privacy@array.fashion. You can also delete your account in-app at any time.
Security
We use technical and organizational measures — encryption in transit, access controls, and least-privilege practices — to protect your information. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, but we work to protect your data and notify you of material breaches as required by law.
Children’s privacy
The Style List is not directed to children under 13 (or the minimum age in your jurisdiction). We do not knowingly collect data from children. If you believe a child has provided us information, contact us and we will delete it.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the product evolves. We’ll revise the “last updated” date and, for material changes, provide additional notice in the app.
